    Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a learned pattern of physical, verbal, sexual and/or emotional behaviors in which a person in an intimate relationship uses force and intimidation to dominate or control the other person. Domestic violence can occur between all types of couples.

It is important to understand what is Domestic Violence, how to identify it with your clients and how to help.

    Diverse Management Solutions Inc.,

    bring you

    The Leadership Day of Learning

Studies are coming out showing that between 25% to 50% of case managers are at high risk of suffering from vicarious trauma. Additionally, "helpers' have been shown to have more traumatic experiences than the general public.

The impact of this trauma on a helper can cause:

    • Compromised physical health
    • Disruption of relationships
    • Blurred boundaries
    • Hopelessness
    • Decrease in ability to experience pleasure
    • Decreased productivity
    • Constant stress & anxiety
    • Negative attitude
    • Inability to focus
    • Feelings of incompetence & self doubt
    • Triggered PTSD reactions & other mental health issues especially if the worker has unresolved issues
Sound familiar? This seminar is a researched-base approach to leadership and management combining proven business approaches with the evolving research on trauma’s impact on individuals, groups and systems.  The result of this research is an approach to leadership specific to the dynamics of helping organizations and systems.

The goal of the LDL is to teach helpers how to achieve excellence in treatment and care in the next phase of their careers, as leaders in their organizations.  Participants will leave the institute with a new paradigm of leadership and a set of skills and concepts to implement the following day in their work.

DMS has presented the LDL and its concepts in previous institutes and conferences. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and follow-ups with participants have shown that the concepts they implement have had a lasting impact on their organizations.

The Human Services Network of Colorado presents a half-day training on Bridges Out of Poverty.  This follows the landmark work of 'the Culture of Poverty' by Ruby Payne which provides critical insight to the class structure and understanding biases.  Bridges is the '201' level of the training and addresses understanding world views and developing supports with those living in poverty.

This workshop provides information and mental models to begin to understand the multiple causes of poverty and the implications of class. We will also explore: information and tools to build relations of mutual respect with people from other environments and classes; and the redesign of programs and procedures to better serve people who come to our institutions and organizations.

Specifically, the learning objectives of this workshop include:

    • Understand and explore the concrete experiences of people living in poverty with use of mental models and data.
    • Understand and explore the hidden rules of economic class and
its implications for professionals, families, youth and children.
    • Discuss resources needed for change and the implications for programs and procedures.

If you have questions, please contact us at 303.859.9249 or hsnetworkevents@gmail.com.

Annie Bacci, Program Manager for Community Housing & Youth Transitions from Volunteers of America will be the presenter.
